It’s no secret that there aren’t many sporting markets to bet on at the moment, but one that is up and running is the Chinese Taipei Basketball League.
Actually called the Super Basketball League (or SBL), it’s a quirky competition with just five teams, and while most teams have at least one American import, there are few big names.
Matt Jones, who won a national title at Duke and played in the G-League is on the Bank of Taiwan roster, as is big man Charles Mitchell, who played at Georgia Tech.
The league’s leading scorer at the moment is Jeoutai’s Franklin Session who played alongside Damian Lillard in college and also played in the G-League.
The most recognisable player in the SBL might be Yulon Nexgen’s hulking Canadian center Sim Bhullar.
Bhullar is 7’5” (226cm) and played at New Mexico State, before playing in the NBA Summer League and a couple of exhibition games with the Sacramento Kings. He was the first player of Indian descent to play in the NBA.
