It’ll be a tight race for best play at the 18th Annual Helpmann Awards on Monday.
The Sydney Theatre Company is responsible for all the top contenders – so one thing is for sure, they won’t be going home empty handed.
The Sydney Theatre Company’s ‘Black is the New White’ opened at $4.50 with the online bookmaker but has since firmed into top spot at $2.80.
Another Sydney production, ‘The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui’ is a close second for the honour at $3.00.
It’s director, Kip Williams, is tipped to take out best direction of a play after he firmed from $5.50 into $2.50 favouritism.
Weaving is $1.85 to win the Helpmann for best male actor and Miranda Daughtry ($2.60) is the main contender for best female actor in a play.
Congratulations to all the 2018 Logie winners and nominees!
Special shout out to winners Hugo Weaving and Pamela Rabe who are both also in the running for 2018 Helpmann Awards and nominees Kate Box, Celia Pacquola and Julia Morris who are also up for Helpmann gongs.
