Ohio State in the Spotlight this Week

It’s Week 13 in college football and we’re getting closer to determining which four teams will play in the national championship playoff.

#2 Ohio State is the team in the spotlight as they face their most dangerous opponent of the season, #8 Penn State. Ohio State, however, is a double-digit favourite despite the last three meetings between the two decided by an average margin of less than two points.

The two Pac 12 teams, Oregon and Utah, are still on a collision course for the league title game and both should win against inferior opponents from the state of Arizona.

The other intriguing game I included here is San Diego State at Hawai’i. The winner goes to the Mountain West championship game against Air Force, Boise State or Utah State.

Playoff Rankings (released this week)

1 LSU (10-0)

2 Ohio State (10-0)

3 Clemson (11-0)

4 Georgia (9-1)

5 Alabama (9-1)

6 Oregon (9-1)

7 Utah (9-1)

8 Penn State (9-1)

9 Oklahoma (9-1)

10 Minnesota (9-1)

This Week

#8 Penn State @ #2 Ohio State: The 18 and ½ point line shows the perceived difference between the #2 team in the country and the #8 team in the country.

After this week, Ohio State faces archrival Michigan this week and then more than likely Minnesota in the Big Ten title game.

Match Betting: Ohio State ($1.05), Penn State ($10.50)

Handicap: Ohio State -18.5 ($1.86), Penn State 18.5 ($1.95)

#6 Oregon @ Arizona State: Oregon is yet to lose a league game, while Arizona State hasn’t won in four weeks. The Ducks should be able to throw the ball at will. Would be a massive upset if the Sun Devils won this one.

Match Betting: Oregon ($1.13), Arizona State ($6.05)

Handicap: Oregon -14 ($1.90), Arizona State +14 ($1.90)

#7 Utah @ Arizona: Utah is flying, having won six straight, while Arizona has been a mess for most of the season. Can’t see the Utes losing this one.

Match Betting: Utah ($1.03), Arizona ($12.50)

Handicap: Arizona +22.5 ($1.83), Utah -22.5 ($1.91)

San Diego State @ Hawai’i: High scoring Hawai’i against the stingy defense of San Diego State, which is ranked #2 in the nation against the run. But Hawai’i QB Cole McDonald threw for 450 yards against the Aztecs last year in a 31-30 Rainbow Warriors’ win.

Match Betting: Hawai’i ($1.72), San Diego State ($2.13)

Handicap: Hawai’i -2.5 ($1.87), San Diego State +2.5 ($1.93)
