XFL Week 2 Games & Betting Wrap

DC Defenders 27 New York Guardians 0

Betting: DC won and covered as -6.5 home favourite, Total Points went Under 48.5

The Good: DC rolled up 384 yards of total offense behind Cardale Jones who remains the XFL’s most polished quarterback.

The Bad: New York had five first downs and just 137 yards of total offense.

The Ugly: Starting Guardians’ quarterback Matt McGloin was 8 of 19 for 44 yards and two interceptions before being replaced. McGloin didn’t hesitate to throw his coaches under the bus.

Seattle Dragons 17 Tampa Bay Vipers 9

Betting: Seattle won as +1.5 home underdog, Total Points went Under 44.5

The good: Seattle won its first game of the year in front of 29,172, the biggest XFL crowd so far.

The bad: The Vipers were pre-season outright second favourites, but they’re 0-2 and their vaunted offense still hasn’t scored a touchdown.

The ugly: There were not one but two Pick Sixes in this game.

Dallas Renegades 25 LA Wildcats 18

Betting: Dallas won and covered as -4.5 road favourite, Total Points went Under 48

The good: Dallas put up 444 yards of total offense, including 99 from running back Cameron Artis-Payne and 305 from Landry Jones in his first start at quarterback.

The bad: That 444 yards LA gave up came a week after they fired their defensive coordinator and hired a new one. Ouch.

The ugly: Despite the win, the Renegades committed three turnovers and had 103 yards in penalties.

Houston Roughnecks 28 St. Louis BattleHawks 24

Betting: Houston won but did NOT cover as -7.5 home favourite, Total Points went Over 50.5

The good: Houston quarterback PJ Walker continues to shine; he was 20 of 31 for 170 yards and three touchdowns, all to Cam Phillips.

The bad: St. Louis QB Jordan Ta’amu was solid again, completing 30 of 37 passes for 3 touchdowns, but he had two interceptions, one on the final drive of the game.

The ugly: A TV producer committed the ultimate sideline sin and turned his back on the game:
