New York Guardians 23 Tampa Bay Vipers 3

St. Louis BattleHawks 17 Dallas Renegades 9

Week 2 Schedule

New York Guardians @ DC Defenders

Sunday, 6am AEDT
Battle of two unbeatens and two of the more impressive teams from Week 1. The Defenders (1-0) were led by ex-Ohio State star Cardale Jones, who had 235 yards and two touchdown passes in a comfortable 31-19 win over Seattle. It gets tougher this week against a New York (1-0) defense that allowed a league-low 3 points against a hyped Tampa Bay offense that never got untracked. Ex-Raider Matt McGloin is the Defenders QB.

Tampa Bay Vipers @ Seattle Dragons

Sunday, 9am AEDT
The Vipers (0-1) were a major disappointment, failing to score a touchdown despite rolling up 394 yards of total offense. Head coach Marc Trestman faces a challenge with starting quarterback Aaron Murray out with a foot injury. Most pre-season pundits picked Seattle (0-1) as the weakest XFL team but there were some decent signs in last week’s loss, with QB Brandon Silvers throwing for three touchdowns but also throwing two picks. Will be interesting to see the crowd size at Century Link, home of the Seahawks.

Dallas Renegades @ Los Angeles Wildcats

Monday, 7am AEDT
Dallas (0-1) could only muster three field goals in last week’s 15-9 loss to St. Louis, but hopes are high now that quarterback Landry Jones is ready. The former Steelers’ backup missed last week’s opener with an injury but got the all clear to run the show this week. The Wildcats (0-1) are already in strife, with head coach Winston Moss sacking defensive coordinator Pepper Johnson following the 37-17 loss to Houston.

St. Louis BattleHawks @ Houston Roughnecks

Monday, 10am AEDT
Houston (1-0) crushed Los Angeles, with PJ Walker the most talked about breakout star from Week 1, throwing for 272 yards and four touchdowns. St. Louis (1-0) surprised Dallas with a strong defense and a balanced attack led by quarterback Jordan Ta’amu and running back Matt Jones.
