A Year On – Is It Her Time?

What a difference a year makes.

This time last year Redzel and In Her Time were not considered major contenders in the Doomben 10,000. Redzel was $9.00 and went on to win the race and notch his first Group 1. In Her Time was a $17 chance and finished fifth.

Now, last year’s rivals are the top two picks in Saturday’s Group 1 sprint over 1200m.

Redzel has held favouritism for much of the lead-up to today’s barrier draw. While still at the head of betting the Peter and Paul Snowden trained gelding has eased from $1.70 out to $2.10.

After the 10,000 In Her Time went on to record three Group 1 placings and finally cracked it for an elite win in last month’s Galaxy at Rosehill. She followed that with a third to Trapeze Artist and Redzel in the T.J. Smith at Randwick. So a mare in form is always tough to beat and In Her Time has firmed from $4.80 into $4.00 for Saturday’s mission.

Bet on the 10,000 here.

Redzel and In Her Time drew middle barriers for the 10,000. Redzel will launch his bid to go back-to-back in the race from gate six while In Her Time will jump from barrier eight.

Smart filly Houtzen ($26) drew the outside gate in the 14-horse field.
