Big fields at Flemington and a couple of Listed races being run at Brisbane’s main meeting, at the time honoured Ipswich Turf Club.

Tough day everywhere, but having a crack and plenty of value in the selections.

Flemington

6-Three-Years-Old Hcp (1600m)

Best: Over The Sky – huge run last start, went back from wide alley, flew home for fourth Walking Flying this track. Can be closer from the good gate.

Others

Right You Are – narrowly beaten here by Persan last start, super consistent.

Charleise – placed last three, blinkers go on and honest filly.

Kuramae – wide alley not ideal, but does get back, will be powering home.

Stretto – brave third to Walking Flying latest. In the breeze, three wide the entire, hit the front early and was not entitled to get that close.

Numbers: 15, 1, 8, 4, 9.

7-Open Handicap (1600m)

Best: Danon Roman – was building to a win and got it last start, this track and distance.

Others

Never Again – 10th to Sircconi last start, but no luck in the straight, featherweight after 3kg claim.

Orderofthegarter – import first-up since September 18. G3 placed in England. Had two jump-outs latest Oliver piloted in a solid 1000m hit-out at Flemington.

France’s Boy – jock went out too hard last start and faded. Won previous two, rider change and gets in well with 2kg claim.

Numbers: 7, 13, 3, 10.

8-Open Handicap (2000m)

Best: Creedence – won here then last start got too far back when 6th to Mirimar, but closed off strongly.

Others:

Salsamour – sat at the haunches of Sircconi and was a fighting third. Drops 2kgs on that run, winner this track and distance.

Double You Tee – drawn to box-seat and held ground latest and positive rider change.

Bartholomew Diaz – Goes in after scratchings, won latest, this tough.

Numbers: 10, 3, 5, 9.

Race 9 – Benchmark 78 (1200m)

Best: Pinyin – was placed here this grade and then turned in a huge run at Sandown when came from last to fourth over 1000m. Bigger track and longer trip will suit.

Others

Orleans Rock – first-up since May and in the money seven of 10 starts. Likes it longer, but will be finishing hard.

I’m Telling Ya – had three quick runs in May and latest was second to Ruben Bleu. Has won up the Flemington straight.

Our Wind Spirit – won four in a row including two this prep, this toughest test.

Price Range – import better for two Aussie runs. Down in grade and weight after claim.

Numbers: 17, 11, 5, 8, 1.

Randwick

6-Benchmark 88 (1400m)

Best: Handspun – mare in form, showed a great turn of foot to score a strong win latest run in heavy 9.

Others

Man Of Peace – the Flemington mile was a touch too far latest. Back to 1400m and well in after 3kg claim.

Dio D’Oro – swimmer and on quick back-up, third-up and featherweight.

Numbers: 4, 1, 8.

7-Benchmark 78 (1000m)

Best: Witherspoon – won this grade with 59.5kgs, chases hat-trick with same weight after the claim.

Others

Black Magnum – resumes and is three from four when first-up. Had a soft Randwick trial and gets 3kgs from gun apprentice.

Spaceboy – won last two starts, most recent was dominant this track in distance

Rosina Kojonup – last run December 2018. Speed machine showed plenty of toe in recent trial win

Numbers: 1, 2, 4, 11.

8-Benchmark 78 (1400m)

Best: Almerheri – taken back from her wide gate and powered home late. Extra distance in her favour and third-up.

Others

Vitesse – led throughout and showed a lot of fight winning here last start.

High Low Bet – stuck on well behind Vitesse, honest trier.

Strawb – won four of six including last two at the provincials. Wraps but this is the big smoke.

Numbers: 5, 8, 3, 7.

9-Benchmark 78 (1550m)

Best: Le Gai Soleil – started prep’ with Maiden win and blew them away in BM70 last start. A filly with a lot of potential.

Others

Adana – took a while to wind-up, but hit the line strongly behind Agassi last start.

Numbers: 11, 5.

Ipswich

6-Benchmark 78 (1200m)

Best: Β Maddi Rocks – no luck at a crucial stage when resumed. Fitter for the run and drawn to box-seat.

Others

Hollaback Girl – won here last start, unbeaten in three goes this track.

Β Voila – blinkers could inject some life into her and she was a solid fourth to Star Of Michelin last start.

Yeahnah – placed last three, this tougher, but drops 5kgs and will race in the bunny.

Love Squirrels – good second-up win last start, has won here and can only be fitter.

Numbers: 9, 2, 6, 12, 3.

7-Eye Liner Stakes (Listed, 1200m)

Best: Deep Image – best horse in the race, freshened since G1 Stradbroke, just needs some luck from the wide gate.

Others

Pennino – nice third to Jami Lady in Listed grade, right jock for this track in J. Byrne.

Boomsara – led them up and fought on for fourth in the Ramornie.

Mr Bellagio – won three before a spell, goes well fresh and will be hitting the line hard.

Numbers: 1, 5, 4, 9.

8- Three-Years-Old Handicap (1350m)

Best: Chico Milagro – highly promising, luckless last start when 6th to Euro Belle. Would have been in the fight with any luck.

Others

Β Stuttering – very game third last start off a three wide run, to Euro Bell. Would be on top only for meeting Chico Milagro 3kg worse at the weights.

Roman Aureus – consistent gelding coming off a last start win and has performed well in this company.

Numbers: 11, 1, 7.

9-Waterhouse Classic (Listed, 1350m)

Best: Jami Lady – ticks some boxes. Won last two starts, latest at Listed level. Drawn to get the gun run and winner this track.

Others

Persuader – had a tough wide second-up run when 7th to Jami Lady. Fitter now and better suited this trip.

Multaja – tardy away and too far back early, but did her best work late behind (6th) Jami Lady.

Shalwa – wide gate a worry, but goes in on her last start when beaten less than 3lens in G2. Won Listed grade before that and winner here.

Numbers: 4, 10, 2, 6.
