Legg-Up | Three-State Quaddies

Comments

Back again for another crack at the Quaddies. No joy on the weekend, but smaller fields this time may help get back in the winner’s list.

Good luck.

Canterbury

4-Benchmark 74 (1900m)

Best: Somnus – doing everything right, big win last start and plenty of potential.

Others

Lord Gododdin – placed last two, blinkers go on and 3kgs claim helps.

Maui Girl – not much luck last start and extra distance should suit.

Numbers: 11, 6, 10.

5-Benchmark 74 (1200m)

Best: Manhattan Mist – fitter for huge first-up run, three wide no cover beaten in a photo by Darleb.

Others

Lancaster Bomber – fit, followed Gosford win with second at latest run, when slow away. 3kg claim is a plus.

Suave – resumes, two trials, won two of three starts, no wet form, but by Lonhro so should handle it.

Accelerato – not far away in tougher class latest. Rock hard fit, drops in grade and very well weighted after the 3kg claim.

Best Stone – didn’t fire first-up, when first time out of the placings in eight career starts. Can only be fitter.

Numbers: 3, 2, 10, 4, 11.

6-Benchmark 70 (1100m)

Best: Estrado – placed last two, swimmer and drops in class.

Others

Knickpoint – won three of seven, first-up had more to offer in Warwick Farm trial.

Crimlet – fought hard last start, back in distance a plus.

Numbers: 13, 1, 9.

7-Benchmark 70 (1550m)

Best: This Is So – nice first-up 4th to Darleb. Kept ticking over with a soft trial.

Others

Knowitall Jack – fitter for two runs from a spell, unbeaten two runs this track and distance.

Travancore – good alley and will race on speed, 3kg claim and heavy track winner.

Bentley Magic – up 2kgs, but did win impressively this class last start.

Numbers: 11, 1, 2, 5.

Sandown

5-Benchmark 70 (2400m)

Best: Shepherd – drops from BM 84, where not disgraced and 3kg claims brings in well at the weights.

Others

Monmouth – 3lens adrift of Meteor Light here last start, tough stayer, likes the cut out of the track and gun jock and barrier.

Meteor Light – well rated by Poy to lead all of the way here last start. Jockey change and 3kgs will help, but may not get it as soft in front.

Blandford Lad – dominant win in easier class latest, three-time winner in soft going.

Numbers: 1, 10, 2, 9.

6-Benchmark 84 (1800m)

Best: Salon du Cheval – wide and battled on last start, fitter for that and is second-up winner.

Others

Master Shuhood – good win at the Valley last start in heavy 9.

He Ekscels – tired late, but game first-up 4th in this class.

Tavirun – chased hard all the way behind Maliseet last start, should be peaking now.

Numbers: 6, 7, 5, 3.

7-Benchmark 78 (1600m)

Best: So You Swing – too far back Saturday grade at Flemington, had trouble getting a run in the straight, but closed well when did see daylight.

Others

Mrs O’Malley – hit the line strongly this track and distance latest when 2nd Grand De Flora.

Moscow Red – railed through and battled on for third here last start, honest mare.

Clean Acheeva – won prior to last start when not at home in heavy, better suited in soft at worst.

Numbers: 6, 7, 2, 3.

8-Benchmark 78 (1000m)

Best: Not Enough Effort – huge first-up run when wide throughout, fitter, D. Oliver.

Others

Iknewshewasmine – won three in a row before a spell. Finished second in recent 900m Mornington jump-out when showed speed to lead.

Kalashani Lad – had all the favours to win well here last start, has a mountain to carry in 63.5kgs.

Zizzis – big betting drifter and just over 5lens adrift of Kalashani Lad last start. Third-up and 3kg claim.

Numbers: 4, 5, 1, 11.

Eagle Farm

5-Class 2 (1600m)

Best: Playthefield– finally broke Maiden last start, ran on from well back. Can handle the step-up in grade.

Others

Blacklog – freshened and back in trip, small field will suit.

Genzai The Wolf – not sure about getting the mile, but likely leader and could get it soft in front.

Numbers: 2, 4, 1.

6-Class 5 (1000m)

Best: The Tenor – showed speed and kept going for gutsy win at Doomben. Drawn to box-seat and nicely weighted.

Others

Mittere – had an easy first-up kill at Toowoomba. This is tougher, but drops 4kgs.

I’ve Gotta Nel – getting giddy, but still racing well at this level and rails draw is a plus.

Numbers: 8, 9, 3.

7-Benchmark 72 (1200m)

Best:Β  Dynamic Verse – only battled on a heavy 8 last start, back to a better surface here.

Others

The Wild One – raced on speed and found little last start, better than that and blinkers could help turn things around.

Bugalugs – won last two on the Northern Rivers, smart trainer doesn’t bring them to town unless capable of winning.

Numbers: 3, 8, 2.

8-Benchmark 72 (1200m)

Best: Bold Arial – missed the kick and got back before flashing home late for 2nd to Foxpack. Meets that horse better at the weights and slightly longer trip a plus.

Others

One For Betty – first-up since February and new stable. No trial, but record is good and Vandyke-Maloney combination is strong.

Copywriter – runs have been well spaced and down in class after even effort at Grafton.

Winning Shot – went close to making it two wins in a row, but edged out late. Honest filly in form.

Numbers: 2, 7, 6, 4.
