We landed the Sydney and Brisbane quaddie last Saturday, but missed the first two legs at Flemington, so two out of three ain’t bad.
Just six races and small fields at Canterbury so trying to keep it narrow. Sale and Doomben are good meetings and plenty of value in the selections.
Best of luck.
Sale (Good 4)
Best: That Girl – resumes and was racing in tougher grade before a spell, where she did a good job. First-up winner and nicely in after the 1.5kg claim.
Japery – had all the favours to break maiden latest, won with authority and suited this slightly longer trip.
Pay Your Dues – another resuming. Lost his spot mid race got home well late at the Valley before his break. Won Werribee Mdn prior to that.
Numbers: 1, 8, 3.
Best: Monmouth was poorly ridden last start. Slow away jock took off mid race, led from the 1000m and did an outstanding job to fight on for second in tougher grade. Positive jockey change with Jye McNeil going on.
Big Sur – drops from BM78 and also down in trip, which should suit. Not disgraced on heavy latest, drier surface in his favour and winner this track.
Blandford Lad – nice run in Saturday city grade (BM84) class drop, blinkers off and also has won here.
Set Us Free – held up before the turn and finished hard for luckless second to Pharrell, this track and distance.
Numbers: 8, 5, 7, 11.
Best: Into Rio – was a game effort, when fought on for fifth after being three and four wide, no cover. Despite the tough run did not shirk and third-up now.
Magazine – copped a heavy bump on the turn, but once balanced finished strongly for second. Harder here, but 3kg weight drop and step-up from 1600m is a plus.
Fudged – got too far back, then held-up when trying to make ground. Pack got away, but last 50m was strong this grade and positive jockey change.
Sphera – bolted in here then outclassed in Group 3. Winner here four starts back, gets 1.5kg claim and one alley.
Walking Flying – 5th in Group 1 two starts back in Adelaide Oaks. Latest beaten 5.5 lengths in Listed race. Covered ground and closed off well.
Numbers: 3, 11, 7, 10, 8.
Best: Vladivostok – super consistent and beaten a lip last start this class. Led and had no peace, but showed plenty of fight. Won three from five this track and distance.
Designer Chef – had all the favours in last start Cranbourne win, in the money all five starts.
Uluru – won last two on Pakenham synthetic.
Defend – is fourth emergency, but if gets a run goes in on luckless last start to Designer Chief when wide throughout.
Numbers: 5, 1, 2, 13.
Canterbury (Heavy 9)
Best: Lady Highly – pinched ground along the fence closed off strongly behind Milunka for second. That was second run since December so likely improver and did well at first go on a heavy track.
Our Gravano – got back and grinding second, when second-up, at Newcastle. J-Mac a plus.
Monasterio – blinkers back on, this trip more to his liking.
Numbers: 5, 1, 4.
Best: – Hard to split Waller pair Mubariz and Milunka, both won well last start, but Milunka was in heavy 9.
Mummentum – beaten just over four lengths by Milunka. Kept trying and meets that horse 2kgs better, after L. Day claims, and no issue on heavy.
Numbers: 3, 7, 8.
Best: Lakia – not started since September and won Maiden this track in impressive style before a spell. Trialled twice, latest with plenty in hand, query in heavy.
Estrado – should have finished closer, this class, last start, got back no luck finding a run. J-Mac happy to stick.
Numbers: 7, 10.
Best: Lillemor – led and fought hard to win this track, in heavy 9 last start. Will race on speed again and hard to run down.
Van Giz – fit and placed in tougher city grade last start, on a heavy 8. She did not go around horse, been up a while.
Bombersay – placed last three, gear added and heavy track winner.
Numbers: 8, 4, 5.
Doomben (Soft 5)
Best: Don’t Despair – led latest, gave it up mid-race and came back to win drawing away BM60 Sunny Coast. Previous was fourth track and distance. On speed should be a plus with the rail out 11m.
Austria – not disgraced, over 1700m, at second race start for new stable. Placed in Sydney and looking for this trip.
Santarene – got going late and made it two seconds in a row at Sunshine Coast. Previous was second to Nemingah and meets that horse 2.5kgs better.
Numbers: 5, 6, 11.
Best: Dashing Special – was not entitled to win at Ipswich last start. Drew the outside and was wide the entire 2200m. Can box-seat this time.
Own Sweet Way – fourth-up and drops in grade, 2kg claim help0s offset the weight rise.
Accessory – raced handy at Ipswich and let rip at the 400m and shot away and went on for a strong win.
Likeabeel – followed Mdn win with dour fifth over 1800m improvement would not surprise over this loinger journey.
Ipso Nem Felek – ran okay in Saturday city grade, class drop brings him into contention.
Numbers: 2, 1, 4, 10, 3.
Best: Perfect Aim – no threat when 5th of eight, but closed off strongly after a tough run, when wide for most of the 1200m trip in Cl6. Can be closer from the good gate, 3kg claim and big class drop.
Champagne Daisy – had first run since June and was fresh and overraced, tired late but held on for third to Hollaback Girl. Will have taken improvement from that and is a second-up winner.
Purroni – also second-up, blew out the gate in betting when resumed, improvement likely.
Lady Appleton – has speed and found the 1400m too far last start in tougher company, rails draw a plus.
Numbers: 1, 8, 9, 12.
Best: Lashoni – was big run from well back when fast finishing third, this grade at Gold Coast. Drew wide and was ridden for luck, from the better gate she can race a bit closer this time.
Tziporah – finished on the heels of Lashoni, but had a cushy run in transit, rails draw and will be handy.
Pressway – slightly longer than this would be better, but he should be finishing hard.
Light Up The Room – freshened races well this track and distance.
Numbers: 10, 12, 1, 8.
