MAHER & EUSTACE TO SADDLE SIX IN BLUE DIAMOND

Comments

Melbourne training partners David Eustace and Ciaron Maher hold more than a third of the field for Saturday’s Blue Diamond Stakes.

A capacity field of 16 was declared this morning for the Caulfield Group 1.

Maher and Eustace will be represented by – Ideas Man, Rathlin, Tanker, Away Game, A Beautiful Night and Muntaseera.

Despite having the numbers, unbeaten Godolphin colt, Hanseatic, is the race favourite.

Hanseatic, chasing consecutive Blue Diamond victories for the Anthony Freedman stable, is solid at the top of betting from the Peter and Paul Snowden-trained Rulership.

David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig will be represented by three fillies, Aryaaf, Personal and Riverina Storm while the Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young stable has dual representation with colt Tagaloa and filly Letzbeglam.

In other news, ahead of Saturday’s big meeting, two of the top contenders for the Group 1 Futurity Stakes had their first look at the track this morning.

New Zealand mare and race favourite Melody Belle, worked with a member of the Maher/Eustace stable for a familiarisation gallop.

The Chris Waller-trained Kolding, with Glen Boss aboard, worked with stablemate Kings Will Dream, ridden by Mark Zahra, in an important hit-out at Caulfield ahead of the Golden Eagle winner’s first Victorian start.
