Barty Party? AO Ladies Singles Preview

Following the Australian Open draw on Thursday night, the Sportsbet traders have made their calls.

Ash Barty? Serena Williams?

While they like both of those superstars, they selected Karolina Pliskova as their best outright tip to win the Ladies Singles while young Ukranian Dayana Yastremska is their pick for best roughie.

Outright Tip: Karolina Pliskova: $10
Best roughie: Dayana Yastremska $34

All Ladies Singles markets here.

Below are notes and tips on each of the four quarters of the bracket, and please remember odds are subject to change.

Quarter 1

Ash Barty ($3.00 to win the quarter) is the favourite here but she’s definitely no sure thing, with poor form leading in.

Petra Kvitova ($4.50) and Madison Keys ($6.00) will definitely give her some trouble.

-Bolters Alison Riske (who beat Barty at Wimbledon and could meet her in the third round here) and Ekaterina Alexandrova are not out of the question either at $12.00 and $14.00 respectively.

Quarter 1 markets.

Quarter 2

Serena Williams is the clear-cut favourite here at $2.40.

Naomi Osaka will definitely put up a challenge as a $3.75 second pick, with a potential quarter final between them.

-Outside of these two, it’s hard to see an upset, but note that Cori Gauff ($26.00) and veteran Caroline Wozniacki ($26.00) may put up a fight.

Dayana Yastremska ($15.00) is the 4th pick here and is in cracking form in the lead up.

Quarter 2 markets.

Quarter 3

-Like a soccer World Cup, this is the “quarter of death.”

Simona Halep ($4.50) and Aryna Sabalenka ($5.50) fight it out for favouritism.

Belinda Bencic ($6.50) and Danielle Collins ($6.50) are both right there, while former champion but completely out of sorts Maria Sharapova ($23.00) is also hanging around.

-Incredibly difficult quarter to pick.

Quarter 3 markets.

Quarter 4

Karolina Pliskova ($4.50) is the favourite here, with Elina Svitolina ($5.00) not far off the mark.

-It doesn’t end with those two, however, as Kiki Bertens ($8.00) is usually in the conversation and although incredibly out of form, Ange Kerber ($8.00) always lifts for a Grand Slam.

Quarter 4 markets.
